Prep and Prime

Any kind of foundation can look flaky and uneven if applied to dry skin. When looking at how to apply liquid foundation, make sure your skin is moisturised and try using a primer beforehand to create a smooth base.

UPD:

Before diving into your makeup routine, it's essential to give your skin the hydration it craves. Start with a lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer that suits your skin type. Let it sink in for a few minutes to ensure your skin is plump and ready for makeup. A primer not only smooths out the surface but can also help to fill in fine lines and minimize the appearance of pores, creating the perfect canvas for your foundation. Think of it as the insurance for your foundation, helping it to adhere better and last longer throughout the day.

2

Get the Colour Right

This may seem like a no-brainer but you’d be surprised at how many people are wearing the wrong coloured foundation! Wearing the wrong shade for your skin tone can be a dead give away that you’re wearing makeup. To get the best colour match, it’s best to test out foundation on your jawline rather than the back of your hand or arm. For a more professional approach – ask a beauty consultant!

3

Keep It Clean

This tip for how to apply liquid foundation may seem like a given, but it’s a step that’s worth reiterating! Always use clean tools to apply your liquid foundation, whether they are your fingers, sponge applicators, or makeup brushes.

UPD:

Bacteria and oil build-up on dirty applicators can result in breakouts and compromised application quality. Make sure to wash your brushes or sponges regularly with a gentle cleanser to maintain their condition and efficacy. When using your hands, wash them thoroughly before touching your face to avoid transferring any impurities to your skin. Remember, a flawless finish starts with a clean canvas and clean tools.

4

Apply in Areas

When looking at how to apply liquid foundation, distribute it evenly by dotting on small amounts on different areas of your face – your cheeks, chin, and forehead. Use the back of your hand as a palette to pour a small amount of foundation on and then using your fingers, a sponge, or makeup brush, dab the foundation on to your face.

UPD:

Next, gently blend the dots into your skin using circular or dabbing motions. Be particularly careful around the jawline and hairline to avoid harsh makeup lines; blend slightly down onto the neck for a seamless transition. Don’t forget the area around your nose and under the eyes, but be gentle as the skin here is more delicate. Opt for a damp beauty sponge or stippling brush for a more airbrushed, natural finish, ensuring you're evenly covering every curve and contour of your face for that flawless base.

5

Blend Well

Nothing looks more unnatural then when you can see a line between your foundation and your actual skin colour. Avoid this look by making sure you blend your foundation in well. Don’t stop at your jawline and remember to blend foundation well onto your neck. You could opt to use sponge applicators or makeup brushes to blend but I find that your fingers are a good a tool as any!

Move in Circles

Blend your makeup by moving in a circular motion, working in small areas across your face. This will help create even coverage. Some say to use your middle and ring fingers to blend as they provide a defter touch and therefore better coverage than your index fingers.

7

Set It

When it comes to how to apply liquid foundation, it’s important to let it set. Keep it in place by setting it with loose or pressed powder. This will help make sure that it stays on all day. Wait a few minutes to let the liquid foundation set and then swirl on some translucent powder with a large powder brush.

I use a foundation stippling brush. MakeupGeek has a fantastic on! It creates a flawless airbrushed look.

always use a brush, sponges soak up the product which leads to a lot of wasted money and time.If you have the problem of the brush leaving lines in the foundation its because you have used too much product. I have found the best way to apply it is in areas like you said, but never put it directly on the perimeter of your face, place it in the middle of the forehead, your cheeks, middle of the chin ect and blend out from there

I use a beauty blender to apply my liquid foundation and yes, it does a little more of my product, but this is what I found to be the best application for it. I love my bb and wouldn't dream of using a brush ever again!

I like your sharing, you wrote in simple way but still fully convey what you want to share rather than writing too flowerily as other usually do. Way to go, keep it up! Thanks!

Never use your fingers. It tends to leave a heavier less natural coverage. A foundation brush is the best way to apply a liquefied foundation.. A sponge soaks up to much product which results in waste of product.
