Use Minimal Makeup

Use Minimal Makeup Of course, packing your face with makeup will not make you feel any better while you’re sick, so the first of my makeup tips for when you're sick is to try to keep your makeup use to a minimum. The last thing you want is loads of mascara and eyeliner irritating your already itchy and puffy eyes! You’ll be constantly trying to rub your eyes and blowing your nose, so the less makeup the better. Your goal is to use makeup to cover up your symptoms and still look fabulous, but keep it as simple and natural as you can.

2

BB Cream > Liquid Foundation

BB Cream > Liquid Foundation For my second tip, I recommend using a BB cream rather than a liquid foundation. This is because a BB cream is a lighter, sheerer version of liquid foundation. It is not as much of a full coverage foundation. Since the BB cream works as a type of tinted moisturizer or «multi-tasking foundation», it is created to help the skin as much as it is meant to cover imperfections. This is perfect for when we’re sick and want a light foundation to restore our complexion, keep our skin hydrated and still even our skin tone!

3

Slight Powder

Slight Powder It’s important to set your foundation with a powder for a long lasting effect. This can either be a translucent or color powder – according to your preference. Of course, you will want to continue applying the powder throughout the day when you see your face getting oily. However, since the skin tends to be very dry when we’re sick (with blowing our nose and rubbing our eyes), try to keep the powder use to a low. You want to avoid getting patchy, dry skin!

4

Load up on Moisturizer

Load up on Moisturizer When we’re sick, our skin becomes extra sensitive, easily irritated, and dry! When you wake up, wash your face regularly (ease up on exfoliation – stick to light cleansers) and use a high SPF moisturizer. Stay away from products with harsh chemicals, as your skin is extra sensitive at this time. Make sure your skin soaks up the moisturizer. Again, you will be blowing your nose and rubbing your eyes, so make sure your skin is moisturized, prepared and ready to go for your makeup application.

5

Lip Balm

Lip Balm Again, being sick will make you look pale and dry. Your lips will probably be chapped and dry, as well. So instead of using a lipstick or lip gloss, I recommend sticking to good old fashioned lip balm. If you just need to have color on your lips, use a tinted lip balm! But again, a lipstick or lip gloss may be too harsh on your sensitive lips and will look dry and chapped.

Blot, Don’t Powder

Blot, Don’t Powder We always have to powder our face up throughout the day to get rid of any oiliness. However, when we are sick, our skin is extra dry and sensitive. Using a powder to get rid of oils will look and feel worse. Try using blotting papers (very cheap from drugstores) and keep blotting throughout the day! This will absorb any oils you may have built up, without creating dry skin and patches on your face.

Simple is Best

Simple is Best Try to look as natural as possible with your makeup use. A little blush along with your BB cream is all you need for your face. Perhaps a tiny bit of under eye concealer to get rid of the pale and puffy look, as well. For your eyes, try using only a bit of mascara if possible. If you just need to have more – try applying a brown eye shadow color to your eyelid’s crease in order to create depth, a thin line of eyeliner and a light coat of mascara. But remember, less is more when you’re sick.

That’s it for my makeup tips for days when you’re sick! I hope these tips were beneficial to you and of course that you feel better! Above all, make sure to get your rest, stock up on teas and soups, and take care of yourself. Do you have any makeup tips that help you when you’re sick? Hate being sick :(

Stick some lip balm up your nose and around nostrils to prevent painful 'nose chapping'. Indulge in a steam facial to ease congestion and zap zits and make face glow
