7 Things to Consider before Getting Permanent Make-up ...

By Eliza

I never considered getting permanent make-up until I found out my grandma had is done when she was a young girl. I guess I always just assumed she was wearing eyeliner all the time. Permanent make-up definitely has its perks. I mean, can you imagine skipping some time-consuming tasks in your routine, but still look fabulous. Getting permanent make-up is essentially like getting a tattoo, so it’s something you should consider carefully before having it done. Here are some things to think about as you make your decision.

1

Trends Change

One of the most important things to think about before getting permanent make-up is that trends change. So, bright blue eyeliner might have had its day, but it’s long gone now. If you had gotten those blue stripes tattooed on, you would be stuck trying to cover them up every day. So consider whether your current look is trendy or if it will stand the test of time before you decide to make it last forever.

2

It Involves Several Steps

You aren’t going to be able to decide on permanent make-up one day and have it done the same day. Most reputable technicians consult with you beforehand so you know what to expect and are prepared for the procedure. Then, you’ll have the make-up applied and will have to return for several follow up visits to make sure the results are exactly what you wanted and that there are no risks of complications.

3

Several Techniques

One of the most common ways to apply permanent make-up is to use a traditional tattoo gun. However, some technicians use a pen type device instead. Either device inserts the pigment under your skin so that it stays in place for years to come. The technique varies among technicians and you’ll find out which one is used at your initial consultation.

4

Beneficial for Many Reasons

There are many benefits of having permanent make-up. According to the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals, it’s ideal for people with dexterity issues, such as Parkinson’s disease. It’s also great for athletes because their look stays in place no matter how sweaty they get. Permanent make-up is also great for people who have allergies or sensitivities to traditional cosmetics.

5

Lots of Options

You probably aren’t going to have your entire face covered with permanent make-up. However, it’s common to get eyeliner, lip liner, eyebrow color and lipstick done. Some people use the procedure to disguise scars or even out skin pigmentation.

It Requires Maintenance

Just like with any tattoo, permanent make-up can fade and look discolored with time. That means you’ll probably have to get a few touch ups over the course of your lifetime. To make the time between maintenance visits as long as possible, make sure you follow your technician’s advice very carefully about proper care of your permanent make-up so it stays looking fresh and new for as long as possible.

7

There Are Risks

Just like with any cosmetic or medical procedure, having permanent make-up applied carries its own set of risks. The most obvious is the risk of an infection after the procedure is complete. However, that’s not all you have to worry about. You also run a small risk of contracting a blood borne disease, such as hepatitis if the tools aren’t sanitary and clean. You can also come down with a staph infection if the tools and working area aren’t clean and sanitized.

Do you have permanent make-up? Have you ever considered having it done?

I have permanent eyeliner and brows. I love it! I suggest going to a place that uses disposable stuff less risk! I got mine when I was 21 it looks very very natural!

Eek I'd be too scared ;/

Such a stupid to do

ALLAH gave us a beautiful face

Wait there's permanent makeup??

My mother-in-law has her eyebrows, lips and eyeliner done. It looks great except her eyebrows...they're shiny, harsh and fake looking. I would never get it done for the simple fact that as you age, the skin starts to sag so the permanent makeup will probably sag too. Plus I'm scared to get a tattoo, lol!

I had my eyebrows, eyeliner and lip (liner and fill) done last year by a very experienced technician. It is absolutely wonderful if you live in a hot climate and also do cross-fit. I love the look -the soft feathery strokes on my eyebrows make them look really natural.

I didn't even know there was such thing as 'permanent makeup' lol

I had eyeliner done, the girl went too deep, I now have permanent blue under the corner of my eyes making me look like a clown! A centimetre square area which has been there for 5 years. The Hospital tried to remove it with laser but that only worked a tiny bit, it is still quite visible & very hard to conceal

Which looks much pretty being natural
