Prep Your Skin

When you are going with a 'barely there' makeup look, the first step is prepping your skin! Trust me ladies, your skin is going to be your canvas and it's gotta look good! So exfoliate, use some great cleanser and make sure that it glows. I actually use a face mask at least once a week, just to pull all of the toxins out of there!

UPD:

The key to achieving a 'barely there' makeup look is to focus on prepping the skin. This means exfoliating, using a good cleanser, and making sure the skin is glowing. A face mask should also be used at least once a week to pull out toxins and keep the skin looking its best.

In addition to prepping the skin, the use of a primer is also important. Primers help to even out the skin tone, create a smooth canvas, and help makeup last longer. When using a primer, it is important to use one that matches your skin type and tone.

Once the skin is prepped and primed, it is time to move on to the makeup. Start with a light foundation that matches your skin tone. Blend it out with a beauty sponge or brush. For a more natural look, use a concealer only where needed.

For a 'barely there' look, skip heavy contouring and opt instead for a light bronzer to add a bit of warmth and definition to the face. After the bronzer, add a light blush to the apples of the cheeks.

2

Prime Your Eyes

Next up is priming your eyes. A 'barely there' makeup look is not complete without at least a little bit of eye makeup. Even if it is just mascara, you want your eyes to have something to cling to and for your eye makeup to really stick. Just a dab of primer under your eyes, along the brow line and your lids, and you should be set!

3

Skip the Foundation

Whenever possible, when you are going with the 'barely there' look, you've got to skip the foundation! After all, that is typically what weighs you down and takes the most time, right? So skip it and just go fresh-faced. Below, I've got some additional tips to follow if you can't skip the foundation, but still want to have barely any makeup on.

UPD:

The barely there makeup look is a great way to look natural and beautiful without the need for heavy foundation and other cosmetics. It is perfect for everyday wear and can be achieved with minimal effort. Here are some tips to help you achieve this look:

  1. Start with a good skincare routine. Make sure to cleanse, tone, and moisturize your skin twice a day to keep it looking healthy and glowing.

  2. Use a light tinted moisturizer or BB cream to even out your skin tone. This will give you a natural look without the need for heavy foundation.

  3. Use a light dusting of powder to set your makeup and reduce shine.

  4. Use a cream blush to give your cheeks a natural flush.

  5. Use a light brown eyeshadow to define your eyes and make them stand out.

  6. Use a volumizing mascara to give your lashes a natural look.

  7. Use a light lip gloss or balm to add a hint of color to your lips.

  8. Use a highlighter to add a subtle sheen to your cheeks, nose, and forehead.

4

Conceal Imperfections

Just because you are going fresh-faced, doesn't mean that you can't conceal the zit or pimple that you have on your face. Concealing all of those imperfections is going to make your skin seem completely flawless. This tip also ensures you feel confident going without all of the heavy makeup that you are typically used to wearing.

UPD:

Concealing imperfections is an important part of going ‘barely there’ with your makeup. You don’t have to cover up your entire face with heavy makeup to look great. Instead, you can use concealer to cover up any blemishes or dark circles that you may have. This will give you an even complexion and make you look radiant.

When it comes to concealing, it’s important to find the right shade of concealer. You want to find a concealer that is a shade lighter than your skin tone. This will help to brighten your complexion and make you look more awake. Additionally, you should use a concealer that has a creamy consistency so it will blend easily and look natural.

It’s also important to use the right tools when applying concealer. A good brush or beauty sponge will help you to blend the concealer evenly and seamlessly. Applying concealer with your fingers can often result in an uneven application.

5

Moisturize Your Skin

Always, before you head out anywhere, make sure that you are moisturizing your skin. This should come after the cleansing and exfoliating! You want your skin to feel hydrated, but not look too thick or weighed down. Choosing a moisturizer might be a little hard, but I always opt for lightweight over heavy.

UPD:

Moisturizing your skin is a key step in achieving a “barely there” makeup look. It’s important to moisturize your skin after cleansing and exfoliating, as this will help keep it hydrated and looking fresh. When choosing a moisturizer, it’s best to opt for a lightweight formula. Heavy moisturizers can leave your skin looking weighed down and can interfere with the application of makeup.

When applying moisturizer, be sure to use a gentle touch. Too much pressure can cause skin irritation and breakouts. Start by applying a pea-sized amount of moisturizer to your forehead and then spread it outward to the rest of your face. Massage the moisturizer into your skin in circular motions, avoiding the eye area.

Once you’ve applied your moisturizer, let it sink into your skin for a few minutes before moving on to applying your makeup. This will ensure that your makeup has a smooth, even base to work with. If you’re using a primer, you can apply it after your moisturizer.

Let Your Skin Be Your Guide

Getting that 'barely there' makeup look is all about letting your skin be your guide and letting it really talk to you. This means that if you have to find some foundation that works for you, do it! But keep it light. Your skin is your canvas, girls, remember that!

7

Light Mascara

Remember when I said that playing up the eyes is the key to this type of makeup look? It's so true! Mascara is something that is essential when you are going 'barely there' with your makeup. However, you don't want to overdo it! Just do a little bit of mascara, just to draw out your eyes.

UPD:

Mascara is an essential part of any makeup look, and it's especially important when you're going for a 'barely there' look. A light application of mascara can help to draw out your eyes and make them look bigger and brighter. It's important to use a light touch when applying mascara, as too much can make your eyes look clumpy and unnatural.

When choosing a mascara, look for a formula that is lightweight and buildable. Avoid formulas that are labeled as 'volumizing' or 'thickening', as these will add too much product to your lashes. Instead, opt for a formula that is designed to lengthen and define. A waterproof mascara is also a great choice, as it will help to keep your lashes looking fresh all day long.

When applying mascara, start at the base of your lashes and wiggle the wand as you move up. This will help to separate your lashes and avoid clumping. If you want to add extra definition, use a lash comb to comb through your lashes after you've applied the mascara.

8

Shimmer up Your Eyes

A little bit of shimmer on your eyes can really make your eyes appear like they are coated in eye shadow, when really you just dusted on a bit of shimmer powder! For me, because my eyes are green, I always opt for the gold shimmer powder. It really makes my eyes appear that much greener!

UPD:

Shimmer powders are a great way to add a subtle hint of color to your eyes without having to use a heavy eye shadow. They come in a variety of colors, so you can find one that best suits your eye color. Gold shimmer is a great option for green eyes, as it enhances the natural color and makes it appear brighter and more vibrant. Applying shimmer powder is easy - just use a brush to lightly dust it onto your lids. With just a few swipes, you can have beautiful, sparkly eyes that will light up your face!

9

Lip Stain

Another 'barely there' makeup trick is all about lip stain instead of lipstick. Below, I've got three different options for your lips if you are looking to keep it simple, but still want something there to shine. Lip stain is one of my favorite ways to add in a little color – but it can get tricky to line your lips.

UPD:

Lip stain is a great way to add a subtle burst of color to your lips without the need for heavy lipstick. It's also a great way to keep lips looking natural and fresh. Lip stain is a type of liquid lip color that is designed to stay on for longer periods of time than traditional lipstick. The key to using lip stain is to apply it in thin layers, allowing it to dry between each layer. This will help create a long-lasting color that won't smudge or fade.

When applying lip stain, it's important to use a lip brush for the most precise application. Start by lining your lips with the brush and then fill in the rest of your lips. You can also use a lip stain pen for more detailed lining. Once you've filled in your lips, use a lip balm or gloss to add shine and hydration.

If you're looking for a more natural look, try a lip stain with a sheer or glossy finish. These will give you a subtle color that won't overpower your look. You can also try a matte lip stain for a more intense color. Matte lip stains are great for creating a bold lip look.

10

Chapstick

Chapstick is a standard in my makeup bag, just because not only does it hydrate your lips, but chapstick will make them kissable soft and oh-so-tempting. The only problem with chapstick is that it does not make your lips shine and shimmer. Instead, if you are looking for that, see the next tip!

11

Lip Gloss

Lip gloss is my favorite, favorite, favorite 'barely there' makeup tip! Not only will it make your lips shine and shimmer, but it'll also make them appear bigger and brighter! For me, I always pick out a tinted lip gloss, that way I still have a little bit of color, but also it's super easy to put on!

UPD:

Lip gloss is a great way to achieve a subtle, ‘barely there’ makeup look. It adds a subtle shine and shimmer to the lips, making them appear bigger and brighter. There are a variety of lip glosses to choose from, including clear, tinted, and even glittery options. Tinted lip gloss is great for those who want to add a bit of color to their lips without using a lipstick. Lip gloss is also easy to apply and can be used to create a glossy finish over lipstick for a more dramatic look.

When applying lip gloss, it’s important to start with a clean and moisturized base. Use a lip scrub to gently exfoliate the lips and remove any dead skin. Follow up with a layer of lip balm to keep the lips hydrated and protected. When it comes to applying the lip gloss, you can either use a lip brush or apply it directly from the tube. Start with a small amount of lip gloss and build up the intensity as desired.

12

Avoid Eyeliner

While eyeliner might seem like a good idea for a 'barely there' makeup look, you should actually just skip the eyeliner. It doesn't typically look natural and while it can make your eyes really pop, you want something more natural in this look. This one was a hard tip for me to follow!

UPD:

Eyeliner can be a great way to enhance the shape of your eyes and make them stand out. However, when it comes to achieving a ‘barely there’ makeup look, it is best to skip the eyeliner altogether. This is because eyeliner can be difficult to apply in a subtle way, and it can end up looking too heavy and unnatural.

If you want to make your eyes pop without using eyeliner, try using a light-colored eyeshadow instead. A light, shimmery shade can be used to highlight the inner corners of your eyes and make them appear larger and brighter. You can also use a light matte shade to define the crease of your eyes and create a subtle, natural-looking contour.

Mascara is another great option for making your eyes stand out without using eyeliner. Choose a volumizing mascara to add definition to your lashes and make your eyes look bigger and brighter. If you want to add even more definition and length, try using a lengthening mascara.

13

Foam Foundation

Even though you want to go with a 'barely there' makeup, sometimes you just have to have foundation. There are tons of different options for foundation and foam foundation is one of them! This foundation is super lightweight, totally covers everything and makes you look completely natural!

UPD:

Foam foundation is a great choice for those who want a natural, barely-there makeup look. It is a lightweight foundation that provides full coverage, while still maintaining a natural look. Unlike traditional liquid or powder foundations, foam foundation is applied with a foam applicator, which creates a smooth, even layer of product on the skin. This type of foundation is especially beneficial for those with oily or combination skin, as it helps to absorb excess oil and keep the skin matte.

Foam foundation is also easy to apply and blend. It is best to start with a small amount of product and build coverage as needed. This type of foundation is also buildable, so you can create a sheer, natural look or a more full-coverage look depending on your preference.

Foam foundation is also a great choice for those who want a long-lasting makeup look. It is formulated to stay in place all day and won't rub off or transfer. Additionally, foam foundation is also formulated with skin-loving ingredients like antioxidants, which help to nourish and protect the skin.

14

Define Your Cheekbones

There are tons of ways that you can define your cheekbones, without all of the makeup on there. While most of the tips out there are all about defining with bronzer, you can actually define with just a little bit of blush, which you are going to use anyway, right? Just apply a small amount of darker blush along the underside of your cheekbones and you'll see a huge difference!

15

Blush It up

Of course, you don't want to forget about why you are using blush, right? After you define your cheekbones with the blush, make sure that you also are using a blush that will give you that summer glow too. For me, I always use a blush that is on the pink side, versus something darker.

16

Tinted Moisturizer

Again, if you absolutely need to have some foundation, why not go with a BB cream or even a tinted moisturizer? This 'barely there' makeup tip really works to make your skin completely flawless, but still have barely any makeup on. Just a little bit of BB cream goes a really long way, girls!

17

Hide Dark Circles

When you are working on concealing all of those imperfections that we talked about earlier, you also want to make sure that you're hiding any of the dark circles that you have under your eyes too. Just a little concealer dabbed under your eyes can really make them pop without a whole lot of effort or work!

UPD:

Dark circles under the eyes are a common issue that many people struggle with. They can be caused by a variety of factors such as aging, genetics, lack of sleep, and dehydration. Dark circles can make you look tired and aged, and can be difficult to cover up with makeup.

The good news is that there are a few simple steps you can take to help hide dark circles. The first step is to use a moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid. This helps to plump up the skin and minimize the appearance of dark circles.

The next step is to use a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your natural skin tone. Apply the concealer to the dark circles in a patting motion, using a damp makeup sponge. This will help to blend the concealer into the skin and hide the dark circles.

Finally, set the concealer with a light dusting of translucent powder. This will help to keep the concealer in place and prevent it from creasing or smudging throughout the day.

18

Eliminate Shine with Powder

If you're like me, you probably have a ton of shine on your face after you moisturizer and exfoliate, right? Well girls, just a few dabs and swipes of your powder brush can eliminate all of that shine. At the same time, it will really make sure that your skin looks absolutely beautiful!

19

Neutral Eye Colors

The key to the 'barely there' look is all about downplaying the makeup. You want to make it seem like you aren't wearing any makeup at all. This means that you've got to downplay your eyes a little girls by going with neutral colors, instead of bright and brilliant colors.

20

Dust Shimmer on

Finally, the last tip that I have for the 'barely there' makeup look is all about the shimmer. If you really want the look of a sun-kissed face, you've got to get the shimmer powder! Shimmery powder will not only take away the shine, but it'll add a glitter that is so pretty!

So girls, there you have it! My top 20 'barely there' makeup look tips! What other tips do you have when you're going for the 'barely there' makeup look?

How about just a bit of color on the upper waterline? will that also be too much for the "barely there" look?

Does anybody know how i can change my picture on here? oh and great tips and ideas by the way ;)

I'm 14 and my makeup is literally only mascara and I only apply concealer every once in a while when needed. I also take very good care of my skin by cleansing and moisturizing every nighit, taking vitamins, and drinking water. Oh I almost forgot! I exfoliate lip and face 2x a week and apply lip balm everyday.
