Classic Makeup Removal Mistakes Most Women Are Making ...

You should pay just as much attention to taking you makeup off as you do applying it. You take great effort with choosing the right makeup products and applying them for a gorgeous look, but do you take the same care removing it? These are the mistakes you might be making when removing your makeup.

1

Not Letting the Pads Rest

eyebrow, face, nose, cheek, lip, When you use eye makeup removal pads, do you make the mistake of just quickly rubbing the pads over your eye and ridding your face of the makeup? What you should be doing is letting the pad rest against your eye area for at least 20 to 30 seconds, allowing the product on the pads to soak in. This makes it so much easier to remove your eye makeup and your eye feels less ‘rubbed’ afterwards.

2

Using Cotton Balls

eyebrow, face, hair, nose, cheek, Do you use traditional cotton balls as part of your makeup removal routine? The truth is that rubbing cotton balls against your eyes and face can result in lots of little fibers being left behind that can be potentially irritating. Instead, the best idea is to use cotton pads rather than balls. They won’t leave any fibers on your face and do an even better removal job.

3

Not Pulling Your Hair Back

hair, eyebrow, human hair color, face, blond, It might seem like the most obvious tip in the world, but some women still do not pull their hair up and back when they are applying and removing makeup. Having pesky strands in the way when you are trying to work on a smooth area is completely useless and annoying, so make your life much easier by assembling a quick bun or ponytail, or pull back your hair with a headband.

4

Only Using Remover Wipes

hair, face, nose, beauty, hairstyle, One of the biggest makeup removal mistakes is that some women think it is sufficient to only use makeup remover wipes and not have to wash your face afterwards. The correct way to do it is to use your remover wipes and then move on to a cleanser. The makeup remover wipes are not cleaning your face - they are just getting rid of the bulk of the makeup. A cleanser is then needed to get rid of the residue and help to boost your skin.

5

Rubbing Too Hard

hair, eyebrow, face, hairstyle, nose, Do you find yourself rather vigorously rubbing your eye area to get rid of the stubborn makeup that is left behind? This is a bad idea as continued rubbing and pressure will result in making the skin red and irritated. You’re also pulling delicate skin around in a manner it doesn’t like. Instead, just be patient and rub slowly. The skin around the eyes is the most sensitive on your face, so take your time and allow the moisture of the pads to soak in.

To give oneself earnestly to the duties due to men, and, while respecting spiritual beings, to keep aloof from them, may be called wisdom.

You Don’t Use Oils

lighting, COCON, NOT, OIL, Do you tend to stay away from using oils because you don’t like the way they make your face feel greasy and a bit weird? The trick is to try out different oils until you find one that you like. They really work and they are surprisingly cheap! My personal favorite is coconut oil. It removes makeup super fast and its greasy nature means that your skin won’t be put through as much rough rubbing.

7

Not Removing Every Night

hair, eyebrow, face, nose, person, I get it. You’re tired, it’s been a long day or you’ve been out all night, and you just want to go straight to bed. Don’t do it! Leaving makeup on overnight can really clog up your pores and lead to pesky skin problems like breakouts and even acne. It might delay your entry to dreamland by fifteen minutes, but it makes so much difference!

8

Are You Using the Correct Product?

face, hair, facial expression, eyebrow, nose, Don’t just buy the cheapest or most readily available makeup remover. Not all makeup removers are equal and you should take as much care in choosing yours as you do any other skin product. One type of remover may not suit all uses. For example, remover ideal for waterproof mascara may be too tough on other areas of your face.

Good makeup removal is as much part of your skincare routine as cleansing and moisturizing. The health of your skin depends on it, so it deserves to be done right, right?

Always use my old stand by, a dove white bar. It's so gentle and doesn't leave my face dry. Also removes all of my make up and there aren't a lot of chemicals. Very gentle on the skin and I have sensitive skin!

I use unscented baby oil to remove my eye makeup. Coconut oil can make you breakout out

Never had acne, black or white heads. I use a fresh white wash cloth and hot water to wash my face, no soaps, lotion or potions. People tell me I have nice skin all thr time and ask me what I use. I do however stay out of the sun ( I used to bake but stopped once I really started seeing the damage it does), and use a good moisturizer with sunscreen

Thanks, Neecey for great advice! I will have to try allowing the pad to soak up the eye makeup. Usually I rub my eyes way too much, and way to hard. Btw, I have found that Avon offers a quality eye makeup remover that really works and is moderately priced. And usually, at least twice a year, Avon has a sale where you an get the makeup removal cream for 99 cents a bottle. And Lisa, I must try Pond's after your recommendation🌞

Or just use baby oil from Johnson. Removes eye makeup so beautifully and you smell like a baby afterwards :)

Aloe Vera works amazingly for my skin! Drying out pores and soothing my face. Also I use baking soda and water paste for the occasional pimple!

I use baby oil with vitamin E and Aloe Vera. Gets the job done and moisturises my skin nice. You also don't need to use very much.

I love philosophy make up remover. It's a lil pricey but you just need a size of a nickel and it removes waterproof make up without drying out your skin. I love philosophy products. You can get it online or at ulta or sephora.

Ponds cold cream is the best. It breaks through my 500 layers of waterproof mascara, gel liner, and all the other goods on my face. My eyelids get rubbed raw from wipes no matter how gentle I am. But this stuff is so smooth & soft. I only wear waterproof products. Just take a Kleenex to wipe away and your face is clean and soft.
