7 Tricks for Keeping Your Eyeliner Perfectly in Place ...

Eliza

Eyeliner is perfect for making your eyes really stand out, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy to get just right. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve screwed up my eyeliner and had to start all over. Even if you’re not in a hurry, this is a real bummer. Luckily, make-up artists across the globe are perfectly happy to share their best tips for making sure your eyeliner looks fabulous from morning to night. Here they are.

1

Start with a Primer All over Your Eyelids

You probably think of eyeshadow when you think of using primer. It’s true that this miraculous product can keep your eye color from collecting in the creases or wearing off altogether. But, it also works for ensuring that your liner stays where you want it. Just be sure to apply it all over your lids so that your eyeliner can benefit too. Easy enough, right?

2

Start at the Outer Corner and Work Your Way to Your Inner Corner

I have always done this totally backward. What about you? It might feel more natural to start at the inside of your eyes and swipe the eyeliner out, but you should be doing it the other way around. Experts say that this makes it easier to get the application right, but that it helps preserve it at the same time.

3

Use a Pencil Eyeliner Rather than a Liquid Product

I know that liquid liner makes a more precise line and is often easier to manage, but it’s also more prone to melting off your lids as the day goes on. On the other hand, a typical eyeliner pencil promises to stay put for much longer. Practice with one so you can get it right. You’ll love the staying power!

4

Buy and Use a Waterproof Eyeliner

Yes, you can find them, though they aren’t as common as the non-waterproof eyeliners. By wearing a waterproof eyeliner, you won’t have to worry that it will wash away if you cry, your eyes tend to water, or you get stuck in the rain. Look around for a waterproof version of your favorite color and you’ll be shocked (in a good way) that it’s still there at the end of the day.

5

Try Top Rated Maybelline, Revlon and L’Oreal Eyeliners

All three brands are available at drugstores at affordable prices. Even better, they all get outstanding reviews as products that stay put, are easy to apply and look great all day long. You can choose from many colors and formulations, so there is sure to be one that works best for you. Give them a try and let me know how they turn out.

Keep Your Hands Away from Your Eyes

The more often you touch your eyes, the more eyeliner that will smudge and disappear. Try to refrain from rubbing your eyes and you might be surprised at how much better your liner looks at the end of the day. If you must rub your eyes, try to use a light hand so you don’t mess up your make-up.

7

Finish with a Dusting Powder for Extra Staying Power

Once you have your eyeliner in place, dust it lightly with translucent powder. It won’t change the look, but will help set it in place so it doesn’t melt or smudge as you go about your day. This simple little step is sure to change your entire make-up routine. It’s so easy!

Isn’t it frustrating to end up with messy eyeliner or none at all by the end of the day? Which of these steps do you think you’ll use? Any other ideas to add?

Tif sorry

I fucking hate eyeliner bcus when I try to apply it my eyelashes are in the way making it so I can't hold it steady or draw a straight line. Does anyone else have this problem???

Wow I don't do any of these things... That's probably why I don't use any eyeliner😂😅

Tuf there is a translucent powder pallete from physicians formula and its mix of different shades of skin tones an is in the shape of hearts. I also use it as foundation and its really good u should get it

J i have that problem every time when I do eyeliner - I hardly put it on which is probably why I have so much trouble with it.. And I use gel, not liquid or pencil!

I personally prefer using liquid because I feel like it sets better and won't smudge like a pencil. I think it mainly depends on the person, the specific product and climate and humidity though

U just hav to work with it good to not make it smudge @hayley. Its not that hard

What are you girls using as translucent powder?
