1

Use a Good Brand of Eyeliner

Use a Good Brand of Eyeliner Something you can do to keep your eyeliner from running is pay attention to the brand of your liner! If you can afford a higher end brand, then go for it. But if you need to stick to drugstore brands, try to steer clear of brands like NYC, LA Colors, or LoveMyEyes, as these tend to be cheaper.

UPD:

Investing in quality makeup pays off, not just for the performance but for the endurance of your look throughout the day. Consider water-resistant or waterproof options, particularly if you have oily skin or live in a humid climate. Brands like Stila, Kat Von D, and Urban Decay offer eyeliners that are renowned for their staying power. If these are beyond your budget, Maybelline and L'Oreal have drugstore alternatives that also provide excellent wear. Testing the product on your hand can give you a good idea of how well it will stay on your eyes.

2

Apply Concealer under Your Eye

Apply Concealer under Your Eye I hate it when my eyeliner seeps into the little lines below my eye! It always makes me look like I have a black eye. To prevent this from happening, I found that applying concealer before I put on eyeliner will help this problem! The concealer sort of “fills in” the lines, and also creates a barrier so the eyeliner has to stay put.

3

Set Your Liner

Set Your Liner One of the most effective ways to keep your eyeliner from running is by “setting” it. Get an eye shadow that is the same color as your liner, and use a very thin brush to apply the eye shadow over the liner! You can even wet the brush for a dramatic and long-lasting effect. This is a fail-proof method, works every time.

UPD:

Setting your eyeliner is a great way to make sure it stays in place all day. When you use an eyeshadow in the same color as your eyeliner, it helps to "set" the liner and keep it from smudging. You can also wet the brush for a more dramatic and long-lasting effect. This method is great for those with oily skin, as it helps prevent the eyeliner from transferring onto the skin. Setting your eyeliner can also help to prevent smudging due to sweat or tears. It's a simple, yet effective way to make sure your eyeliner looks perfect all day.

4

Switch up Your Formula

Switch up Your Formula Different women have different skin types, so you should keep this in mind when you are choosing a formula. Eyeliners come in liquid form, gel form, crayon form, pencil form, and even soft kohl. If you have very oily skin, softer formulas may melt and run much easier than if you used, say, a pencil form.

UPD:

When shopping for eyeliner, be sure to look for formulas that are waterproof or long-wearing. These types of formulas are designed to stay put and resist smudging. Additionally, look for formulas that are hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, so that they won't irritate your eyes or clog your pores. Lastly, consider using a primer on your eyelids before applying eyeliner. This will help create a smooth base that will help the eyeliner stay in place for longer.

5

Try the Layer Technique

Try the Layer Technique We all know how to get long lasting lipstick. Apply, blot, apply, and blot again! Well, this same idea applies for keeping your eyeliner in place all day! Apply your liner, and then smudge it out really well. Reapply, and smudge one more time! Now you have long-lasting liner that won’t slip or slide off your face!

Wear Face Powder

Wear Face Powder This tip may sound strange, but it really works! Once you have applied all your eye makeup except mascara, take a big fluffy brush and dip it in loose powder. Lightly apply over your whole eye and blend really well. This helps to set all your makeup in place, and gives your liner something to stick to.

UPD:

Translucent face powder is not just for your cheeks and T-zone; it's a secret weapon for eyeliner longevity. After wielding that fluffy brush like a magic wand across your eyes, you'll notice how it miraculously mattifies the oil-prone territory, providing an excellent base for your eyeliner to cling to. This nifty trick not only barricades against smudging but serves to intensify the pigment of your eyeliner, granting you that smoldering, stay-put look all day – or night – long!

7

Use Oil Control Sheets

Use Oil Control Sheets One thing that can really make eyeliner run and melt easily is oily skin. About halfway through the day, the skin around your eyes starts producing oils, and your makeup can slide away before you realize it. I carry oil-blotting sheets with me, and when I start to notice any kind of shine, I gently blot the oil away. Now my makeup stays in place until I wash it off!

UPD:

Oil control sheets are miracle workers when it comes to maintaining that perfect eyeliner look. Simply dabbing away excess oil doesn't just help your eyeliner stay put; it also keeps your entire face looking fresh. For those with particularly oily skin, it might be worth investing in sheets that contain additional mattifying properties. Always remember to press, not rub, to avoid disturbing your meticulously applied makeup. Keeping these handy in your purse means a quick touch-up is at your fingertips, ensuring your look remains flawless from morning to night.

8

Use Primer

Use Primer Using an eye makeup primer not only helps set and intensify your eye makeup, it can also help your eyeliner last longer. Eye makeup primer gives your eyeliner something to adhere to, thereby making it last longer and preventing it from running. Give it a try!

UPD:

If you've ever dealt with the frustration of your eyeliner smudging or wearing off too quickly, you'll find that a high-quality primer can be a game-changer. Primers are designed to create a smooth canvas on your eyelids, which not only enhances the vibrancy of your eyeliners but also provides a grip for products to hold onto throughout the day. This means less touch-up and more confidence that your makeup will stay in place. Don't skip this step; a little primer can go a long way in preserving your perfect look from morning to night.

9

Seal It up

Seal It up If you currently don't use waterproof formulas for your eye makeup, using a sealer can help set it in place. Look for products like Aqua Seal from Make Up For Ever or Cinema Secrets Liquid Eyeliner Sealer to seal in your eyeliner and turn regular old eyeliners into waterproof and smudge-proof superstars!

UPD:

Eyeliner sealers are a cosmetic game-changer, particularly for those who experience smudging due to oily lids, sweat, or tears. These magic elixirs work by creating a waterproof coat over your standard eyeliner, ensuring it stays put all day. A quick swipe over your eye makeup, and you transform your favorite liners into long-lasting formulas. It's like setting spray for your eyeliner—a must-have for anyone striving to maintain that perfect cat-eye or wing from morning latte to evening nightcap. Plus, it's a fantastic way to get more mileage out of the eyeliners you already own.

10

Apply Powder

Apply Powder I mentioned using loose powder, but another easy way to set your eye liner and prevent it from running is to apply pressed powder. Using a flat-headed eye shadow brush, apply pressed powder to the edge of your lash line to soak up any excess oil. This will help prep your eyes for makeup and decrease the chances of it running or fading.

UPD:

Applying powder is a great way to make sure your eyeliner stays in place. Loose powder is ideal for setting the liner, but pressed powder can also be used. When applying pressed powder, use a flat-headed eye shadow brush to apply it to the edge of your lash line. This will help to absorb any excess oil, ensuring that your eyeliner will last longer.

Powder can also be used to create a more intense look. When applying eyeliner, you can use powder to build up the color and create a more dramatic look. Start by applying a thin line of eyeliner and then use a brush to apply powder over it. This will help to build up the color and give you a more intense line.

Finally, powder can be used to create a smoky eye look. Start by applying a light layer of eye shadow and then use a brush to apply powder over it. This will help to blend the colors together and give you a soft, smoky look.

Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum Jelly Sounds crazy, but makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff told HuffPost Style that dabbing a Q-tip in a little petroleum jelly and rubbing it along the waterline and tear ducts helps keep eyeliner in place. I've also read that applying it on eyelids can help keep eye shadow in place but I would be VERY careful with this tip!

These are my tricks for keeping eyeliner from sliding away, but I’m sure you have a few good tips of your own! Do you wear eyeliner? What methods have you found to be effective for keeping your eyeliner in place all day? Please comment below and share your ideas!

#4 As simple as this sounds I’ve never thought about it that way but will keep you up-to-date on how that works.

The makeup in this picture, does anyone know how to do it ???

I use Urban Decay or Kat Von D. Sure they are a Little pricer but they are the ONLY eyeliners that I can afford that doesn't run and lasts all day and night and they last a long time. Totally worth the money. Plus you can find them on eBay! Just don't buy MAC on eBay, it's fake 98% of the time!

#8 What are some of the better make up primer or I make up primer? I don’t see that you have any suggestions here.

I use white liner in combo with black liner or I'd I want drama black I use liquid liner on the bottom as opposed to the waterline

cool :) I will try the face powder technique :)

#2 I have used concealers above one, four, five and found for me that one and four are awesome.

#1 I have found that the brand it doesn’t really matter for the bottom I portion. It doesn’t matter even if I have used the same eyeliner brand as the concealer and stuff it runs so I’m still going to try some of these other options
