Exfoliate Your Face
This will remove the dead skin from your face and help you avoid having cakey foundation. My favorite scrub is "Clear Skin Professional" from Avon as it cleans deeply and is affordable. One of the best answers for how do I make my makeup last all day is to exfoliate first.

Use a Moisturizer
Obviously for dry skin, moisturizer will keep your skin hydrated during the day and will not make your foundation crease. If you have oily or combination skin, try to find a moisturizer made for that skin type. Be sure to apply it about 30 minutes before your makeup so it can soak in.

Use a Primer
Primer is very important because it will help your foundation stick to your skin. It also creates a barrier so it will be harder for the foundation to sink inside your pores. Be sure to choose a primer that matches your skin type.

Foundation by Skin Type
Again, choose a foundation designed for your skin type. You also want one that contains sunscreen. If you have oily skin your foundation should have a matte finish. If you have dry skin, look for a foundation with hydrating ingredients.

Use a Translucent Powder
