1. Don’t Wear as Much

You may find you don’t need as much makeup in the summer. Your skin has a healthy glow from the change in seasons. Dryness isn’t typically as much of an issue and your cheeks have a natural rosiness. You can usually cut back on the amount of products you wear. Multipurpose products are an excellent choice for summer.

2. Add a Primer if You Don’t Already Use One

Primer is one product you don’t want to cut out of your makeup routine in the summer. Think of it as facial glue that holds your makeup in place. It’s the product you need to fight the summer heat. It helps prevent melting and extends the wear of your makeup. Primer has been steadily gaining popularity because of all the benefits it has.

3. Switch from Heavy Formulas to Something Lighter

You may not need heavy foundation coverage in the spring and summer. Most people do outdoor activities in the summer. You may have days by the pool, at the ballpark or at backyard barbeques and none of those are ones you want heavy makeup for. BB cream or tinted moisturizer are great options to use in place of heavy foundation. It’s enough coverage to camouflage any imperfections but sheer enough that it’s perfect for warm weather.

4. Give Cream Blush a Try

Powder blush can give you a cakey finish when temperatures are on the rise. Cream blush has a lighter finish that looks dewy and fresh. It’s perfect for summer. Cream blush is easier to work with, too. I’ve recently fell in love with L’Oreal’s Visible Lift Cream Blush in Rose Gold.

"Enhancing your beauty doesn't always mean going for the glossy look. More ladies now see the allure of a shine-free finish. With the right tools and techniques, you can also achieve a flawless, subtle glow. Learn how to master this trend by following these incredible matte makeup tutorials. Enhance your natural complexion without the unnecessary flash."

5. Keep Blotting Papers Tucked in Your Purse for Touch-ups

Move over, powder. Blotting paper is the best option when you need to freshen up. A quick blot will remove oil and sweat without removing your carefully applied makeup. Blotting papers are good for all year long but are especially great for summer. Once you get in the habit of using them, you’ll wonder how you ever made it without them.

6. Switch to Waterproof Eyeliner and Mascara

This is my pet peeve with makeup in the summer. I hate when my eye makeup runs! You can prevent that by using waterproof eyeliner and mascara. I like Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner so much that I now use it every day. If you’re not a huge fan of waterproof mascara, only use it on days that you know you’ll be in the heat for an extended amount of time.

7. Say Goodbye Lipstick and Hello Lip Balm

This one’s not easy for me. I love my lipstick! But I don’t love when it melts. So I’ve found some lip balms that I love for hot days. I get a hint of color that doesn’t feather or melt as easily. My go-to lip balm is always a Baby Lips by Maybelline.

I hope these tips are helpful to you in dealing with summer heat. Now it’s your turn. What tweaks do you make in your makeup routine for summer?

very useful tips!

Why does it matter if it has silicone?

@Splashh: I've never tried cream blush. Do you find it longer lasting than powder? My skin does not tend to get oily; I don't suffer from blackheads.

So loving the advice 💄

Cream blush doesnt work for everyone some ppl has oily skin and cream blush makes it way worse in that case u need a powder one

Use a primer without silicone. Mac has a good spray primer that's light as water and keeps your make up put all day. For $22 you get a 6 month supply. Excellent for the summer months!
