Mascara 101 Four Helpful Tips to Know ...

By Vanessa

Mascara should be a part of every girl's daily makeup routine! It's really simple to use and can help give your eyes the coveted 'wow' factor. Like every other form of makeup, there are the dos and don'ts. Here are some helpful tips to make sure you're always looking your best:

1 Top Vs. Bottom Lashes

Top Vs. Bottom Lashes For a casual look, skip the mascara on your bottom lashes. Personally, I think the top lashes are already enough! However, if you feel like your look just isn't complete without it, use less mascara on lower lashes than on the top ones. You don't want it to look too overwhelming!

2 Pumping the Wand

Pumping the Wand When applying mascara, never pump the wand! What that does is adds air to the mascara container, which will only make your mascara dry out faster. I used to be guilty of this but now I know better!

3 When to Buy a New One

When to Buy a New One You should be changing your mascara every 3-6 months. Personally, I tend to lean toward the 3-month mark. It helps avoid problems of the mascara drying out or becoming clumpy! Make sure to change your mascara if you notice a change in its color, if it has a funky smell to it, or if you've noticed that it's become dry and flaky!

4 Extra Coat

Extra Coat After you've coated your lashes with mascara, add another layer to the outer corners. This extra coat will make your lashes look especially long!
