If you are in the market for new lipstick shades, why not consider lipstick colors from the spring runways? Fashion week isn’t just about the clothes, it’s about the makeup as well. I love watching the runways to gain inspiration for the year. These were some of lipstick colors from the spring runways this year!
Table of contents:
- bright orange
- soft purple
- basic nude
- classic red
- muted pink
- dark berry
- shimmering silver
1 Bright Orange
One of the most popular lipstick colors from the spring runways was orange. Orange lips made an appearance for labels such as John Galliano (above), DKNY, and Rag & Bone. The appearance of orange lipstick has everyone wondering, is orange the new red? While I don’t think orange will ever completely replace red lipstick, I am all about wearing orange lipstick this spring, summer, and fall! To get this runway-inspired look, try Nars Cosmetics’ Semi Matte Lipstick in Heat Wave, a bright orange-red, available at narscosmetics.com.
2 Soft Purple
Purple is one of my all time favorite lipstick colors, so I was beyond excited to see the shade pop up on the runway. Prabal Gurung (above) had models donning purple lipstick for his Ready-to-Wear collection. Nicole Miller also used purple lips on the runway. To get the look, try Make Up For Ever’s Rouge Artist Intense collection in Pearly Violet, available at makeupforever.com.
3 Basic Nude
The all-natural look was another big trend on the runways this season. Labels such as Giambattista Valli (above) and Dolce & Gabbana went with a natural, nude lip. You can simply opt out of lipstick to get this look or go for a shade that matches your skin tone. I suggest MAC’s Myth (available at maccosmetics.com), a light neutral nude color that looks great on almost everyone. However, this may not be the right color for your skin tone, so shop around to see what works best for you!
4 Classic Red
Although orange was the star of the runways, that doesn’t mean red didn’t make an appearance. Jean Paul Gaultier had models in the signature lipstick shade during the show. To get sultry red lips, I recommend trying Lipstick Queen’s Velvet Rope Lipstick in Brat Pack, a true Hollywood Red. You can get this lipstick at lipstickqueen.com.
5 Muted Pink
Pink lips also made an appearance on the runways. Although this time around, it was about more understated pinks as opposed to the bright and vibrant shades we’ve seen in the past. Pink lips were spotted at the Michael Kors (above) show. To get this look, I suggest Lancôme’s Color Design Lip in Pink Preview. You can get it at saksfifthavenue.com.
6 Dark Berry
Marchesa (pictured above) broke the rules by using dark berry lipstick to accompany the spring fashion line. I must admit, I am a big fan. Now, there is no need to feel like you have to save your plum and wine lip shades until autumn. Go ahead and sport a dark pout this spring! To get the look, consider YSL’s Rouge Volupte SPF 15 in Forbidden, available at yslbeautyus.com.
7 Shimmering Silver
I wasn’t expecting to see silver lips on the runway this year, but that’s what I love about Betsey Johnson! She is always keeping me on my toes. While sparkling silver lips may not be the best every day occasion, I love the thought of wearing the color on a night out. Would you sport silver lips? If so, I suggest trying out KA`OIR’s lipstick in Platinum, available at kaoir.com.
I love the lipstick colors that were found on the catwalks this season. I plan on rocking these colors not just this spring, but for the rest of the year. What were some of your favorite lipstick looks from the runways this year? Are you going to try any of the colors on the list? Give us your input in the comments!
