Considering going under the knife to look young and fresh? Stop! There are lots of things you can do with makeup that are just as good as surgery. They aren’t permanent and won’t do you any good if you decide to go bare-faced, but if you want to avoid the plastic surgeon’s office, here are some fabulous makeup tips that can give you the results you want. I’m on board. Are you?
1. Brighten the Area above Your Cheekbones and Brows
Brightening these areas takes the emphasis off places where aging tends to show the most. Use a highlighter that is two shades lighter than your skin and brush it above your cheekbones and brows. Dust a little but on the end of your nose too. You might have to use different products for each area as the skin on your face isn’t always the same pigment.
2. Put Bronzer Only in the Hollows of Your Cheeks
This instantly sculpts your face and gives the impression of a lift. Suck in your cheeks and brush a bronzer that is two shades darker than your skin into the indents. Don’t put the bronzer anywhere else on your face or you won’t get the effect you’re going for.
3. Contour Your Face before You Put on Foundation
You might think this will simply be messed up when swiping on your foundation, but what actually happens is that the foundation helps blend your contoured makeup so that you get the lift and brightness you want. There are loads of great tutorials online to help you contour based on your skin color and face shape.
4. Use Bronzer on Your Jawline to Negate Sagging
Use a large makeup brush and swipe some bronzer along the underside of your jaw. This darkens the area to create a healthy glow and detracts from sagging or a double chin. You want bronzer that is two shades darker than your skin tone so keep in mind that the color you use on your jaw might be different than the one you use on your cheeks.
5. Use Rose Colored Blush on the Apples of Your Cheeks
A rosy colored blush looks great on most girls and gives you a healthy radiance that makes you look instantly younger without having to go under the knife. Use a large brush to swirl the color on your cheeks, but be careful not to go too crazy with it or you could wind up with color where you don’t want or need it.
6. Use Mascara and Liner Only on the Upper Lid
I hate this because I always feel like I should have mascara on my bottom lashes, but the truth is in how it looks. By only putting mascara and liner on your upper lids you create drama and a lift that rivals that of a face lift. It’s super easy to do and doesn’t take any extra time. You’ll be so glad you tried it!
7. Don’t Forget to Use Your Eyelash Curler
Before you put on your mascara, make sure you curl your lashes. This is akin to having a brow lift and will instantly open your eyes and make you look young and wide awake with very little effort. What more could a girl ask for?
