1. Store It in the Fridge

One of the ways to make your makeup last longer is to think about storage. Storing certain products in the fridge can help prolong their lifespan. For example, putting things like new or barely used face creams in the fridge can help prolong their life. Similarly, keeping things like lipsticks and eyeliner pencils in the fridge can help them keep their shape.

2. Stay out of Sunlight

In some cases, exposure to sunlight can impact the effectiveness of certain makeup and beauty products. Things like serums and perfumes can be affected by exposure to the sun so to keep them in top condition, just make sure you store them out of direct sunlight.

3. Keep It Airtight

Another way to make your makeup last longer is to make sure you keep the lids on tight. Exposure to air can easily reduce the shelf life of many makeup and beauty products. So make sure you close containers properly and screw lids on tightly!

4. Piece It Back Together

Breaking or shattering a powder compact can be so frustrating. Luckily, there are ways to overcome such a disaster. Simply add few drops of rubbing alcohol and press it back together. The powder will then reset in the pan and you’ll be left with something that’s as good as new.

5. Repurpose and Remix

Get the most out of your makeup by repurposing it. Just because it’s designed for one thing doesn’t mean you can’t use it for another. For example, mix the remnants of your bronzer with a moisturiser to create a shimmery lotion. Use your last bits of lipstick and turn it into a cream blush or even mix different colours together to create a unique shade. Mix powders and pigments with a cream base to create cream shadows. You could even clean your old mascara wand and turn it into an eyebrow grooming brush.

6. Scoop It out

The way some packaging is designed, it’s hard to fully use up all of our beauty products. With lipsticks, you’re always left with that last bit of lipstick in the tube. Use up every last bit of your lipstick or gloss by using a Q-tip to scoop it out. When you think your pump lotion has run out, unscrew the lid and use the stem of the pump to scrape out more lotion. Finding ways to use up every last bit of your beauty products will help you get the most bang for your buck.

7. Dilute It

Some makeup products can be pretty concentrated, so diluting them can help you get more wear out of them. Make things like body oils last longer by mixing them with water. Also, with things like hardened nail polish, adding a nail polish thinner is a standard trick you could use to dilute it and help it regain a nice consistency.
