1. Look for a Foundation Made for Your Skin Type

hair, face, black hair, person, eyebrow, Do you have oily skin or is it dry? Maybe you fall into the category of people with normal skin. Whatever the case, you need to find a foundation designed for the type of skin that you have. This will help keep your face healthy while also giving you the most flawless look possible. All it takes is a quick glance at the package to figure out if the foundation will work for you or not.

2. Figure out What You Want Your Foundation to do for You

hair, face, black hair, eyebrow, nose, Do you need foundation that lasts all day long? Or do you want something lightweight or made for sensitive skin? Decide what your priorities are when you choose a foundation so that you can look for one that meets those needs. If you can’t find what you want in drugstores, go to a specialty make-up shop and see if the girls there can help you.

3. Consider What You Want the Foundation to Hide

hair, human hair color, face, eyebrow, black hair, Whether you want foundation that masks large pores or that evens out your complexion, this is an important factor to consider when choosing foundation. The exact needs you have will determine which bottle of foundation you pick up.

4. Do You Want Dewy or Matte Skin?

eyebrow, face, hair, cheek, nose, Do you want a dewy glow or are you trying to keep your skin from looking too shiny? Look for a foundation that provides a matte finish in the case of the latter. On the other hand, if you want a bit of a glow, look for a creamy foundation that will give you just that. You can tell which type you have by reading the packaging on your foundation. Keep in mind that you might have to mix and match a little bit to get the exact product you’re looking for.

5. Think about Trying a Powder Foundation if You Have Oily Skin

hair, human hair color, color, face, pink, This tends to be my problem, but a good powder foundation can really help. 6. Make Sure the Shade Matches Your Skin Tone

hair, human hair color, face, eyebrow, black hair, The point of foundation is to give you an even look that hides imperfections and makes you look fabulous. That isn’t going to happen if you have a shade of foundation that doesn’t match your skin tone. You need to test the colors (you can do this on the inside of your wrist) to find one that best matches the color of your face. This shade may change with the seasons, depending on how much sun you get and how dark your skin tone happens to be.

7. It’s Important to Consider Convenience

hair, face, black hair, eyebrow, clothing, No matter how great the foundation happens to be, it’s not going to work for you if you don’t like how it’s used. If you prefer to use a makeup sponge to apply your foundation, but you buy a roller ball version, chances are you might quit using it altogether because you don’t like how it goes on. Choose a product that works for you and you’ll be all set.

What tips do you have for choosing foundation? Will any of these help you find the best product?

@thelma62913: Definitely try Clinique. MANY solutions for oily/acne prone skin in they're line. And guaranteed to not cause new breakouts. 👍🏻😊

Look up the ph level scale - your skin is 4.5-6 and milk is 12. That is horrible for your skin

I started using a BB cream , I found perfect for me as I've good skin anyway X

NEVER use milk of magnesium or whatever on your skin

Is it OK to use Milk of Magesm to get a matte finish?.

Any suggestions on a foundation for oily, acne-prone skin?
